创作思路：I was always used to the modern landscapes and buildings that I lived near. When I went to buy food or necessities, I usually went to indoor air-conditioned supermarkets. It was similar to those in America. One day my grandma and aunt took me to an outdoor market that was just a few blocks away hidden by old and cracked buildings that contrasted the tall and smooth ones. The

market was so much more colorful and livelier than the comfortable and air-conditioned indoor markets. I heard people holler their prices and the bustling crowds listen. I saw a girl younger than me holding chickens and working hard to make money for her family. She spotted me looking at her and so she smiled at me. Although she may have been under the hot beating sun for hours, she was still happy. I drew this painting because it captured a moment of time of hard work and persistence among the working people that are so vital in the foundation of Fuzhou are hidden by the tall

and modernized buildings and lifestyle that the other side of citizens in Fuzhou lived.
